A pressed tin plover/wader decoy, circa 1874-1900.
First patented in 1874 these hollow decoys were designed to fold on a simple wire hinge and stack like clamshells for easy transportation in the field. Production ceased circa 1900 when laws giving greater protections to shorebirds were passed.
