These naive decoys, which date to circa 1950, were hand made by the late Birdsall "budge" Ridgway. Born in 1912 he was a gunning guide, wildfowler and carver from Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. He was best known for his goose decoys, which he carved from navy surplus, WW2 cork lifejackets.
The geese have upcycled life jacket cork bodies, with a cedar base and head.
In excellent condition with age related wear from use on the water.
